SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Wind energy in Burgundy

The good wind potential in the region has allowed the development of two wind farms: Saint-Seine l'Abbaye and Beurey-Bauguay. The Burgundy region is also engaged in the development of employment in the wind energy sector.

Atlas éolien

Burgundy has a good potential for wind, from 1600 to 1800 MW (equivalent to the electricity consumption of 1 600 000 1 800 000).

Best potential in the Yonne
The best wind potential is located in the northern part of the department of Yonne, on the hills of Sens. Other regions also show significant potential as Auxerrois, the Morvan, the plateau of Langres and the reliefs of the Hautes-Cotes in Côte d'Or.

Facilities

Currently, 50 MW are installed in the Region and 12 MW are being installed at Beuray-Bauguay Côte d'Or.

178 Mw of building permits were granted (82 turbines) and 350 MW were under development in April 2010.

First wind farm
The first wind farm was inaugurated on May 15, 2009. It is located in Seine-Saint-l'Abbaye about twenty miles northwest of Dijon. It consists of 25 wind turbines with an output of 120 million kW / year.

Employment in wind power
The Region is committed to the development of employment in the wind energy sector. Companies in wind energy currently represent 1,000 jobs. Among the main Géotec, Cegelec, Schneider, SKF.

The Burgundy Regional Council and ADEME jointly studied the potential of large wind turbines on the Burgundy region. Result: the publication of Wind Atlas of Burgundy , A real tool for the decision to the attention of industry players. View it Click here .
