BIODIVERSITY

The environmental framework Burgundy

A new approach to conserve biodiversity

It is not enough to protect spaces and remarkable species to preserve biodiversity. It is strongly linked to the ability of species to move. Therefore the Burgundy region is committed to studying and protecting ecological continuity.

The preliminary study of identification, preservation and restoration of ecological Burgundy frame was launched in September 2009. The study is funded by the Region of Burgundy, Bourgogne DREAL (Regional Directorate of Environment, Housing and del'aménagement) and Europe.

What is a green screen?

This is the ecological network made up of natural areas of high biodiversity (wetlands, calcareous grasslands, afforestation, river ...) and

Biological corridors

which allows the animal, plant or fungal survive under normal conditions (feeding, breeding, hibernation, migration ...). It's sort of the natural infrastructure of the territory. The green belt is composed of land areas and the blue screen of aquatic and wetland areas.

A tool for planning

The frame is essential for ecological interactions between habitats, genetic exchange within species and preserve species diversity and outstanding shares. Identify ecological connections between natural areas, it is able to consider in planning an eco-friendly. It also can be restored through the establishment of ecological corridors.

We are all concerned!

The study provides a regional policy framework that must be deepened to establish concrete projects at the local level. Planners, local authorities and local farmers, landowners, but also amateur gardener, each in its scale plays a role in the preservation of biodiversity.

The Grenelle Environment constitution sets out the objective, by 2012, of a frame as a tool for environmental planning. The regional pattern of ecological coherence (SRCE) has to be developed jointly between the State, the Region and a regional committee green and blue, and subjected to public inquiry.
