The Quadripartite Agreement: the Burgundy region, Rhineland-Palatinate, Opole Voivodeship, Central Bohemia Region

The Burgundy region, Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany), Opolskie (Poland) and the Region of Central Bohemia (Czech Republic), finding common interests and strong bilateral ties that were forged various regions, decided to form a network by entering into a cooperation agreement quadripartite May 21, 2003 in Mainz.

The signing of the Convention is part of a desire for closer ties and partnership between the regions of the enlarged Europe. The principle of the quadripartite Convention is to develop and maintain friendships with the establishment of economic cooperation activities, educational, social and cultural life in a European perspective.

What cooperation?

Among various activities, some have now become the flagship projects and annual quadripartite cooperation. These include:

Four Stages of the Office:
The Traineeship Office, established in 1998 as part of cooperation between Burgundy and the Rhineland-Palatinate, was opened in 2006 with two other regions of the quadripartite system, the Region of Central Bohemia and the Opole Voivodeship. Aimed at 18-27 years, it helps students, trainees and job applicants to complete an internship in one of the partner regions. The Burgundy Regional Council awards scholarships to young Burgundians in training in the Opole Voivodeship and the Region of Central Bohemia and housing assistance for young Czechs and Poles wishing to do an internship in Burgundy.

The quadripartite meetings of young people:
The quadripartite meetings, funded by the Regions of the quadripartite system, are organized every year since 2004. This event brings together students from all regions working together on specific themes. It is an opportunity for exchange, debate and explore the culture and language of other European countries.

CinéClyc:
CinéClyc, European competition for high school film criticism, is a device created in 2005. This is an outreach program to the image, and more broadly in European cinema, open to students of Four Regions of the network. Since 2007, meetings Finals held at Louhans (Saône-et-Loire) and allow recipients to participate in the Week every young critic at Cannes.

The Europe Quiz:
The Quizz Europe was initiated in 2005 by the House of Burgundy in Prague within the framework of the Quadripartite Agreement. Every year, this competition offers a general knowledge quiz on the Four Regions of the network to all high schools in Burgundy, Rhineland-Palatinate, Central Bohemia and Opole. The winners (10 per Region) won a trip to Brussels or Strasbourg.

Europa-Master:
The Europa-Master is a tri-national integrated curriculum in political science and European law created in 2008, which will be operational in 2011. Training in four semesters will be held alternately in Opole, Mainz and Dijon, and in the region of origin of the student. Universities have thus chosen to rely on the network to expand four-integrated curricula existing between the Universities of Mainz and Dijon, the University of Opole.
