The Burgundy Regional Council supports the median scenario of the project, which would put the Nièvre an hour from Paris and Lyon. It excludes, however, the scenario if the West allowed a consensus of all local authorities mobilized on the project.
Why create LGV Paris-Orleans-Clermont-Lyon?
the proposed line called LGV POCL should come clutter the current line Paris-Lyon which would otherwise reach the current 67 million passengers in 2025.
This is a new 500 km line linking Paris to Lyon serving Clermont-Ferrand and Orleans. these two regional capitals are thus closer to Paris, as Bourges, Nevers, Moulins, Roanne and Vichy, also involved in the plots.
It would also cross-network structure and improve the service territory of Central French.
Enhance the attractiveness of the Nievre and Saone-et-Loire
The Burgundy Regional Council supports projects that will service to the station via a new Nièvre located near Nevers. Relocated to one hour from Paris and Lyon, Nièvre gain in attractiveness and in the economic, industrial, tourism as well as academics.
According to the writers considered, LGV would have a service station in Moulins or Roanne, which places west of the Saone-et-Loire in less than an hour of these stations. Thus, the project would enhance the attractiveness of the territories (Bourbon-Lancy, Gueugnon, Digoin, Paray-le-Monial, The Shelf, Charolles).
Encourage intermodality
The Regional Council also requests that the new station in Nevers has connections with the existing network and the TGV TER, which would be easily accessible by correspondance.Elle would also be considered that the creation of a station at Orly, which would create significant rail connections towards Brussels, Strasbourg, Rouen, Rennes and the airport.
