Textbooks are free for students Burgundy
The high school reform, decided by the state for nearly 11 500 students from second to Burgundy. This overhaul of the program involves the purchase of new textbooks. Families will not have to bear the financial consequences of this reform, the region toward an endowment directly to schools to purchase books.

Curriculum reform of secondary schools was announced belatedly by the government. Poorly tied by the state, it is now the subject of a formal application for the hasty return to the contempt of those who bear the costs: the families and the Region.
Once again, we can only condemn the inconsistency and shortsightedness of the government. This overhaul of the program was made without consultation with the educational community. The regions have been ignored, even though, since 2004, they participate in financing the acquisition of textbooks.
I recall that the Region has chosen since 2004 to provide free textbooks for students Burgundy to help preserve the purchasing power of families. To do this, the Region will pay a direct financial allocation to schools to purchase books. Families will not have to bear the consequences of this reform. Beginning in June, the Region has consulted with principals to find more satisfactory solutions, which will not penalize students for the fall. Insofar as all books will not be ready for the month of September, it was agreed with the principals that current textbooks will be distributed in September.
High schools will purchase new books as and when they are published and put them freely available to students.
The reform of the state for nearly 11 500 students from second to Burgundy. The cost of the reform this year represents a financial effort for the region of 2.3 million euros (1.2 million euros against the previous years). Thus, the overall cost of reform will weigh nearly 7 million on the regional budget for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013.
