Territory, project, contract
Signed for the period 2007 - 2013 between the Metropolitan Creusot-Montceau, the State and the Region, the contract reflects the priorities of urban development planning.

Projets de territoire
For the Region, which has allocated more than € 5 million, the contract is more than a financial commitment: it is also a six-year partnership with the project leaders of the city. Surrounding rural areas have joined the process and a single contract city / country has to finance new actions accompanied by the Region.
A strong economy in a country living, offering a quality living environment, strengthen the identity and influence of the territory: the main structure the project in this city. They are reflected among others by the redefinition of social housing and the development of cultural and natural heritage in particular the Canal du Centre.
The priorities of the Region and the Metropolitan focuses on three sites. Significant work has been done to modernize the industrial site of Le Creusot, a former high place in the steel industry: it gives new life to old buildings, we will welcome new businesses, it adjusts to make space for residents. In the same spirit that continues the rehabilitation of the crew quarters to Montceau. The former site of activity of the colliery is becoming a real urban neighborhood with places, housing, public facilities ... Finally, the area of activity Coriolis Le Creusot is booming.
"The future of the territories in question"
Martin Vanier, academic, geographer
What future for the territories?
In the short term, the limited scope available to the territories me to give an answer to the question worried about their future as agents of public policy. We are not in a period that gives pride to decentralization. What is emerging today is rather the resumption of political questions governed by centralized systems with an overall philosophy of reducing public efforts. My view is "politically concerned" if I consider the few years before us.
How do you think the role of territories?
In the longer term, I still think that the territories are and will be the organizers of community life. It is irreversible. It is they who bear the major contemporary issues.
An example?
The huge issue of our relationship to the environment and the planet in all its dimensions. It is very difficult to act alone against global warming or depletion of energy resources. The territories, however, may be seized and ensure that we are all actors. They can produce a set of responses closely related to environmental dimensions of our world. From this point of view, the territories have a future all mapped out: they will play an increasing role in the new development models.
