TGV Rhine-Rhone in the east of the new!
Since December 11, 2011, the Rhine-Rhone TGV allows Burgundians reach more easily the larger cities of eastern France. Many routes are proposed to go in Franche-Comte and Alsace.

The 140 km of new line between Dijon and Mulhouse have cost 2.612 billion euros (studies, work and purchase of land included). The Burgundy Regional Council funded the project for 75 million euros, with fifteen other local partners (regions of Alsace and Franche-Comte, departments, urban communities and urban). In total, communities have financed nearly a third of the overall cost.

The public debate on the draft of a new TGV line between Paris and Orleans, Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon (POCL) is launched, and will end January 31, 2012. Four scenarios are being studied, including three serving Nièvre. The Region supports the median scenario serving this department and who wins the support of all the territories crossed. The cost of this proposed high-speed line is estimated between 12 and 14 billion for 550 km of new lines. It would, in 2025-2030, linking the Nièvre, and beyond all of central France, in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, to the Atlantic coast and high-speed network in Europe.

Since December 11, sixteen round trips TER Dijon-Paris (2 hours drive) are available on weekdays. TER trains direct (no change in Dijon) also link Paris to Lyon, six times a day, Monday through Friday. They serve Sens, Joigny, Laroche, Saint-Florentin, Thunder, Nights-by-Ravières, The Laumes, Dijon, Beaune, Beaune, Chalon-sur-Saone, Tournus and Macon.
