The regional council organizes regional express transport (TER) from 1st January 2002. The Region is responsible for the organization of sailings, pricing and ensure service quality. It also finances the modernization of rolling stock and participates in the management stations. The Region strives to provide efficient service and offer affordable rates for everyone.

As of December 11, 2011, the TGV Rhine-Rhone Burgundians allow even easier to reach the major cities of eastern France. Many routes are proposed to go in Franche-Comte and Alsace.

The Regional Council of Burgundy and the SNCF in 2010 completed a major program of development and renovation of stations Burgundy. 119 stations have been upgraded, for a total of over 8 million.
Since 2004, the regional council has spent 240 million euros in the renewal and renovation of rolling stock. The new trains offer more convenience and better accessibility to the disabled.
