Buy local wood products, oak, ash, beech, poplar, Douglas fir, etc., and heat-treated in Burgundy (decking, siding, flooring, paneling ...), it is now possible thanks to the six investment professionals located in Wood Saone-et-Loire and Nièvre.

They launched in July 2009 with support from the Regional Council of Burgundy, a platform for high-temperature heating wood in the rough out of their mills, thus avoiding their chemical treatment.

Their goal: to offer green products and quality to meet demand. "Our philosophy is to enhance the wood of our forests by providing the qualities desired by consumers: increased durability, stability over time and insect resistance for exterior wood and design in tune with the times through chocolate stains very homogeneous, obtained by the thermal process used ' , Explains Sébastien Deschamps, head of sustainable wood from Burgundy. "Our products are a local response to counter the import of exotic woods."

Sustainable across the board
The company has chosen sustainable development in the selection process first.
She preferred the more environmentally friendly treatment of the market, of Finnish origin, involving only very high temperatures (between 190 and 220 °) to water vapor.

In the industrial process and energy choices then.
CO2 emissions and carbon monoxide associated with the cooking of the wood is collected to feed the boiler gas, and with the upcoming installation of a second oven, the company's substitute for a wood boiler that works with local waste.

Finally, she chose to work with people of CAT Paray-le-Monial.

Certify products
With oven for 20 m3 , Durable wood of Burgundy is now the largest production unit in France and the only one dedicated exclusively to the heat treatment of wood. "Our customers, who are also the six manufacturers who created the company, give us their wood in the rough who then leave for machining and finishing" Says Sébastien Deschamps.

The company has developed with engineers Finnish cooking different recipes according to local species and the final color desired. Each species has an associated degree of doneness, verified by sensors at the heart of the wood, and connected to a computer that manages the process. "We may change these recipes based on the color desired by the customer and have a small oven for 1 m3 for experiments " Says Sébastien Deschamps. "But our goal today is mainly to achieve a standardization of these new products, to obtain the necessary technical advice to win big markets, those communities, for example. Obtaining these certifications will be a new start for the company. "
