Save the bees!

On October 3, against the decision of the State Council, the Minister of Agriculture has confirmed the registration of Cruiser OSR on canola seed. This pesticide originally documented cases of poisoning in bees raised the greatest concern among beekeepers.
The Regional Council of Burgundy, a partner for several years of operation Bee sentinel of the environment, like to recall the vital role of bees.

Thanks to the pollination of flowering plants wild and cultivated, they participate in the functioning of ecosystems and maintaining biodiversity, they also have a role in many agricultural products (approximately 10% of the turnover of Agriculture World).

The Regional Council also recalls that the beekeeping industry in Burgundy is significant: 68 000 hives, more than 4,000 beekeepers (70 professionals) and diverse productions (honey, pollen, gingerbread ...)

Therefore, the Regional Council of Burgundy:

  1. again strongly condemns the government granted permission for use of Cruiser OSR of rape because the decision puts more beekeeping and all pollinators at great risk;
  2. stresses that this goes against the National Strategy of Biodiversity adopted in June;
  3. stressed that the Government gives again the lobbies and in total contradiction with the commitments of the Grenelle Environment Forum and the precautionary principle enshrined in our constitution;
  4. calls for support for beekeepers at their October 15 demonstration in many cities including Dijon in France (9:30 Liberation Square).
