Regional plan for biodiversity
Human activities cause a decline in the quality and diversity of landscapes, habitats and species. Therefore, in 2006, the Burgundy region decided to implement a plan for biodiversity. Objective: to preserve threatened species and biodiversity while promoting the natural heritage.

Improve knowledge of natural regional information and awareness

Preserving biodiversity
In the remarkable natural spaces
The goal is to maintain the characteristic landscapes of Burgundy and biodiversity of the environment.

The region is strengthening its support to the efforts of management and development of outstanding natural environments. About 60 sites are currently involved.
The regional nature reserves
The Law of grassroots democracy (Article 109) established in 2002, the regional nature reserves. They provide an opportunity for regions to protect sites of heritage interest and to regulate activities. The tender documents of the first regional nature reserve " Forest Val Suzon "Was passed in February, the actual creation of the reserve is expected in early 2011.
The Green Burgundy frame
The Region has committed voluntarily to study and protect the ecological continuity, guarantee the smooth flow of cash. The preliminary study of identification, preservation and restoration of Green Burgundy frame was launched in September 2009 and be completed in 2011. This should allow to take into account the natural infrastructure of the territory (green and blue frame) in local development projects.
