ECONOMICS AND SOCIAL SOLIDARITY

Regional Development Plan of the social economy in Burgundy

The policy formalizes preliminary drying of the regional council in terms of social economy. It was voted unanimously by the Regional Assembly at the plenary session of March 23, 2009. Burgundy is one of the few regions to have adopted a plan of this type.

The main objectives of this plan are:

  • stimulate and support entrepreneurship,
  • facilitate the structuring of the sector,
  • support the sustainability and local roots,
  • awareness of the social economy in Burgundy.

The social economy represents 12.3% of employment in Burgundy and about 1.12 billion in payroll. In other words, it is firmly rooted in the Burgundy region and it is now a solid and sustainable alternative to undertake differently.

The Regional Council has placed the social economy at the heart of its action. It is also one of the key points of SRDE adopted in 2005.

The social economy is what?

It is an economy based on production and consumption of goods and services citizens. Production activities are carried out collectively and democratically with a social purpose and the environment. Its principles are: democratic governance ("one person, one vote"), the freedom of membership, the non-profit and individual mix of resources.
