The Cycling Tour of Burgundy
Realization of a route network of cycle paths and greenways 800 km loop providing regional based on the use of towpaths along canals in Burgundy, paths in the vineyards and old tracks.
The
Cycling Tour of Burgundy place over almost 800 km dedicated to a linear soft modes of transport based mainly on the paths of service channels (hauling): Center, Nivernais and Burgundy vineyard paths or via the influence of old railways.
This route actually draws a loop serving the major regional population centers (Auxerre, Dijon, Beaune, Chalon, Macon, Nevers) through the most prestigious terroirs and skirting the foothills of the Morvan. The unique location of the route Burgundy wedged between basins issuers Ile, Rhone Alps, east of the Loire Valley and close to the powerful Swiss and German markets underlines the strong interest from the start by the regional community of Burgundy this ambitious project of homelessness.
From 1997, opening the first section of greenway in Chalonnaise of 44 km, the example sets the stage but there is nothing to give a clear framework for the programming of infrastructure development. Only the joint decision of the departments in the region and state to schedule a multiannual budget of $ 16.40 million based on an allocation of tasks (plan contract 2000-2006), in particular a project owner assigned to departments, helped set a course for this important project roaming.
The high level of services required by client focus, stay in, especially in groups and families requires the establishment of a smooth therefore costly, regular maintenance and promotion power.
Eleven years after the opening of the first section Saône-et-Loire, two-thirds of the route in dedicated lanes are now equipped and Burgundy now initiates a process of professional services to close to the line (board-support ) by taking the benefits of shared expertise in the project Eurovéloroute No. 6 Atlantic-Black Sea.
In October 2005, the adoption of the regional plan for tourism development up roaming in the heart of the strategy and the Burgundy wine route, waterways and the Cycling Tour of Burgundy are the essential elements. It embodies a true economic development project for a short time horizon to call potential tourists around routes preserved and of high quality.
The Cycling Tour of Burgundy is a tourism product in the making. To date, approximately 70% of the route is open to the public and about one third is converted into a greenway in accordance with the regional charter.
So that the project Cycling Tour of Burgundy is a great success, customer bike needs a number of appropriate services. These services must be structured to provide a guarantee of quality and consistency to the attention of customers through clear signs and recognized. Their structure and their assembly will allow the development and marketing of tourism products associated with the Cycling Tour of Burgundy, and thus increase the number of tourists from the Burgundy region and maximize economic benefits.
To drive this momentum, the Burgundy region, with the collaboration of four departments, worked on a quality charter for accommodation located along the Cycling Tour of Burgundy.
