Partnership between universities Burgundy and Franche-Comte
By creating a center for research and higher education (PRES), Universities of Burgundy and Franche-Comte wish to pool their resources to form a powerful set.

Burgundy and Franche-Comte work together towards a federal university. Regional councils of Burgundy and Franche-Comte favored the establishment of a research and higher education (PRES) Burgundy Franche-Comte. They go NEAR this so that higher education institutions cooperate to improve their visibility, their attractiveness and to share their expertise.
The objective of NEAR is to build in Burgundy Franche-Comte, on the basis of a multidisciplinary very wide of the two universities are geographically near a set of academic reference.
The future center will include 50,000 students (PhD 1800), 2500 teachers and researchers and seven graduate schools.
Creating an association Its constitution will be done in several stages. An association of precursor to a federal university will initially be created in late 2009 early 2010. It will bring together the two universities, two university hospitals, AgroSup, ENSMM Besançon (National School of Mechanical and Microtechnology), the French institution of blood and the Centre Georges-François Leclerc. Its purpose is to structure the collaboration between two universities, respecting the specificities of each.
This structure will be followed in September 2010, creating a foundation for scientific cooperation (FCS). It will bring together all institutions of higher education and research, clusters, industry and local authorities. A logical request given the
Regional Action Plan for Innovation (NRC) recently adopted by regional politicians to support research in Burgundy.
What a PRES?
Established in 2006, NEAR allow universities to pool their teams and their capabilities to offer a research and training more consistently.
The two universities jointly establish a training map. Graduate schools are common in place.
