More than 90 million euros are invested by the Region to achieve the urban renewal projects in Burgundy.
11 cities and 23 districts have benefited, by 2013, this significant assistance to improve and upgrade the quality of life in social housing areas.

What is urban renewal?

This is significantly improving the quality of life in neighborhoods. Burgundian towns and cities carry a urban renewal project have all signed with the Region, urban renewal agreements, which allow them to receive assistance for:
  • demolition of dilapidated or substandard housing, renovation and construction of energy efficient housing,
  • the development of public spaces (playgrounds, parks, landscaping ...)
  • installation of equipment to facilitate the voluntary attendance and new neighborhoods (business premises, installation of liberal and associational activities, etc.).

For whom?

11 cities or towns of Burgundy are carriers of an urban renewal project: Dijon, Le Creusot-Montceau, Chalon-sur-Saone, Macon, Sens, Nevers, Saint-Florentin, Avallon, Auxerre and Autun Migennes.

Among the projects funded:

renovation of the mall Chenôve in 2005, the Center City sports initiation of the Fountain of Ouche the neighborhood recreation center Brichères at Auxerre, the demolition of the towers of the peninsula of Saint-Jean Meadows Chalon-sur-Saone, or the district in Migennes Mignotte.
