Cartes SIG
It is not uncommon to reduce to a simple GIS mapping tool assisted by computer. It is not! A GIS is a set of tools, human resources and working methods to make maps. It is a real tool for decision support including elected officials, planning and management of a territory.
How? By combining geographic data, it is possible to perform analysis in the form of maps.
GIS in many fields:
- communities to manage their cadastral or their roads
- Emergency Preparedness for emergency response planning
- some private companies for their market research
Within the regional council, the main mission, originally, was the production of maps for all directorates and services. Today, the objectives are multiple:
- Better understand and follow the Burgundy region
- Perform analysis and diagnosis territorial implementation of territorial policies
- Assessing Regional Policies
It is also an ideal tool for forecasting.
