A National Park "between Champagne and Burgundy
National Park "between Champagne and Burgundy" should be created by 2012 in the departments of Cote-d'Or and Haute-Marne.
Burgundy is starting a new national park. Provided as part of the Grenelle Environment Forum, the future National Park Châtillonnais will join the already created 10 national parks in France.
10 000 hectares
This project called "Champagne and Burgundy" for a forest straddling the Haute-Marne and the Côte-d'Or is going up the Châtillonnais Rainbow Barois.
Deciduous forest
10 000 hectares of the 100,000 will be classified in this deciduous forest with oaks and beeches, and populated by deer and wild boar, which was once the hunting preserve of the kings of France.
The site was competing with two other hardwood forests in Bitche (Moselle) and in Verdun (Meuse).
Showcasing
The national park status will allow this exceptional benefit from greater visibility. Its opening in 2012, after a period of consultation about its implementation.
